RONAL GROUP at IAA in Frankfurt:

3D-printed wheel makes its world premiere

Date: 10. September 2019

This year, the RONAL GROUP will celebrate its 50th anniversary at the IAA car show in Frankfurt am Main. From September 12-13, we will be presenting various highlights at our stand CO2 in hall 4.1, along with an absolute sensation: the world’s first approved one-piece 3D-printed alloy wheel!

Measuring 150 m², our stand will focus on our 50th anniversary, which we are celebrating at all our locations across the globe in 2019. In commemoration, we will be showcasing a 1970s Ford Capri RS2600 V6 with the first wheel we ever produced for an automobile manufacturer. We look forward to seeing many of our longstanding customers at IAA and toasting to our excellent partnerships!

In addition to products from our RONAL, SPEEDLINE CORSE and SPEEDLINE TRUCK brands, we will also be debuting a special world’s first from our RONAL TECHNOLOGIE GmbH innovation center in Forst, Germany: The “SLM Concept Wheel”. This debutant gets its name from the process used to manufacture it – selective laser melting. What’s special about this 3D-printed 13-inch alloy wheel is that it’s made of one single part, and not pieced together out of several components. And to top it off: It has been approved for use in road traffic in accordance with the German Road Traffic Registration Ordinance (StVZO)! Our “SLM Concept Wheel” prototype is the perfect example of just what possibilities selective laser melting has to offer for the future: Personalized designs tailored to customer requests that are also practical!
