Smudo and Four Motors on the road

to sustainability with the RONAL R70-blue

Date: 16. November 2021

The RONAL GROUP is one of the partners who equip Four Motors – Germany’s first sustainable racing team – with their products and accompany them on their way to sustainable motorsport. The climate-neutral RONAL R70-blue wheels have already been tested several times by the crew on the most demanding racetrack in the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, under maximum load.

The Four Motors racing team has specialized in sustainable mobility since 2003. In the specially configured Bioconcept Cars, Smudo, member of Die Fantastischen Vier (Fantastic Four), head of the team and ex-DTM driver Thomas von Löwis and other driver colleagues will take part in the Nürburgring endurance series (NLS) and the international 24h race.

With its RONAL R70-blue, the RONAL GROUP is contributing the world’s first carbon-neutral wheel to the overall Four Motors concept. For use on the Bioconcept Cars, extra 18-inch designs with the sporty Jetblack surface were produced, also featuring a white tail and the blue PLANBLUE lettering.

Another plus for the RONAL R70-blue wheel: It was recently certified by TÜV Rheinland, which carried out a critical review of the product carbon footprint report, created by the RONAL Group, in accordance with the international standard DIN EN ISO 14067:2019. The result: With the RONAL R70-blue, the CO2eq. emissions can be reduced by more than 60% during production compared with a standard wheel.

“In our loved yet feared “green hell”, we show that sustainable mobility can go hand in hand with driving fun,” says racer Smudo. “Wheels are an important safety-relevant part of a vehicle. In motorsport, they not only have to look good, they also have to be exceptionally tough. The RONAL GROUP’s R70-blue has shown in races that wheels made from recycled aluminum are just as durable as those made from primary aluminum, but cause far fewer carbon emissions during production. And that’s great!”
