FORGED WHEELS FOR

HYBRID RACE CAR

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has unveiled its first LMDh prototype with a hybrid engine for endurance racing – the SC63. The RONAL GROUP is a technical partner and has developed and produced special 18-inch RONAL forged wheels for the vehicle.

The SC63 will compete in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship in the Hypercar class, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship Endurance Cup.

We at RONAL GROUP accepted the challenge of developing a product for the Lamborghini that is precisely tailored to the special stresses of motorsport use and must also meet other requirements such as a customer-specific design. The design of such a wheel is primarily concerned with structure, function, weight, aerodynamics, bending/strength and, of course, safety.

The result is forged monobloc wheels with an aero ring that combine technology and aesthetics for aerodynamic efficiency. A colored ring around the center lock serves as an aid for the mechanics when changing the wheel. Similarly, Lamborghini’s signature styling motifs such as hexagons and “Y” were incorporated into the design. The use of the latest machines and technologies, coupled with the know-how of our employees, has resulted in a wheel that combines high performance, structure and style at the highest level.

The entire development, turning, milling and coating processes are completed entirely within the RONAL GROUP. While the design, machining operations, CMM measurement and final inspection are performed at the App-Tech plant in Italy, the painting, pad printing and all testing take place at the plant in Landau, Germany.
